So, on your wedding day, the vows are said, you have signed the register, and the speeches are on the way, there is nothing left to do but hit the dancefloor and have the party of your life with an exceptionally great live wedding band. In order to help you choose the right band, we have put together some helpful questions you could ask your wedding band before they get the show on the road.
Is my wedding date available?
Your wedding date will be set a long time before you choose the band that you want. If you have your heart set on one then make enquiries with them in regards to the date of your big day and are they available. Always book a good 6 months in advance as certain times of the year can be busy.
How would you describe your style of music?
You have already looked up their style of music however it is important to ask the band what style of music they play and if it works with the vibe you are going for.
Can I hear you perform before booking?
A lot of bands have their wedding videos or live playing up on youtube or on their website, there is nothing better than seeing them in action. Many bands will have showcases every few months playing in hotels and music venues for people to see them playing live. Many musicians and bands may invite you to another wedding to give you an idea of what to expect from the band.
Do You Perform at More Than One Event in A Day?
Ask the band if they are only playing at your wedding that same day. You do not want your band turning up exhausted or late due to rushing from another gig.
Can we be involved in the setlist?
It really depends on the band you get. Some may have a large setlist which you can pick from songs and many bands will have no problem learning new songs just for your wedding day. A lot of bands have their setlist but will let you pick your exit and entrance music and you just leave the band do the rest. To avoid any arguments down the line they will let you choose some of the music.
Will you learn new songs?
If there is a particular song that you would like on your wedding day then most bands will oblige you on this but they will have a limit to how many they can learn, that is if they don’t know the song already.
What time is set up and who organises this?
The band needs to confirm with you their arrival time to the venue, as this will give your venue notice and to point them in the direction where the reception room is. The sound checks, set-up, and set down must be arranged.
Do you have a payment plan and how much Deposit do you Require?
Many musicians or wedding bands would like to be paid in full beforehand or before your wedding, some may take it on the night however this can cause a bit of chaos.
